KI 1680 Change language in various programs

Are your programs displayed in a different language from what you want? Here is hoe you change that.
Word, Excel and PowerPoint
NB! Language settings are common for these programs, so the setting you make in one of them will also be valid for the others..
  1. Start one of the programs (Outlook, Word, Excel or PowerPoint)
  2. Select File > Options (in the lower left of the window):
  3. Select Language

  4. You may choose from many different display languages, among them Norwegian Bokmål and Nynorsk, and English.
  5. Select the language you want in the box Display language for Office and click Select.
  6. Click OK
  7. You have to restart the progra(s) for the language selection to be effective.
Outlook
NB! This section describes the version Microsoft calls "New Outlook". For "Old Outlook" the settings are pretty much the same as in Word, Excel and PowerPoint; please refer to the section above.
Display language in New Outlook
Go to Settings > Accounts > Manage accounnts.
This is easiest accessed via the cogwheel icon to the right on the heading line:

Select General > Language and time:

You can choose from two different ways of selecting language settings:
  1. Use Microsoft 365 settings, ie the settings you have meade for your Microsoft 365 account.
  2. Seelct separate settings for Outlook.
Spellcheck in New Outlook
When typing email messages you may use spellchecker in up to three languages. These are selected thus:

When you are in the editor (composing an email message), select Options > Editor > Editor settings:

 Then click Manage spellcheck languages:

You may now select up to three languages for which to use spellchecker. You may of course also choose to disable spellchecker and other language functions.
Teams
  1. Click the three dots next to the name of the organization in the top right of the window, and select  Settings:
  2. Scroll down the settings till you find Language > App language. Select your preferred language from the listt. The program will offer to restart to make the selectin  effective.
Teams voicemail message
Your phone voicemail prompt may be in a different language from what you have seleted otherwise in Teams.

You select voicemail prompt language here: : ... > Settings > Calls > Configure Voicemail


In this dialogue box, you may record your own message or change language for the standard generated prompt:, under Greeting language:
Web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge)
  1. Click the three dots/dashes on the top right of your browser window and select Settings/Innstillinger. Alternatively type in the address field:
    • chrome://settings/languages (Chrome),
    • edge://settings/languages (Edge),
    • about:preferences (Firefox).
  2. Find your preferred language on the list of availabl languages and select it.
  3. If you do not find the language you want, you mayuse Add language.
  4. The program will offer to restart to make the selectin  effective.
Windows
  1. Open Language settings by selecting the language icon in the system bar, or by clicking the Windows  icon (Start button) and typing Language settings.
  2. Select desired display language.
  3. If your preferred language is not on the list, you may use Add a language.
  4. The selected language will be effective the next time you log on to Windows-

Note
Display language designates the language the program is displayed in, eg. used in mednues, help texts, menu selections, etc.

You may enter contents in various languages independent from the selected display language, but in some cases eg. the spell checker will follow the display language if you have not made a separate selection for that function.
